Short description. Slate Chess reviews your games and explains every mistake in plain language, plays opponents at your level, and helps you train what costs you points. It runs on your device, powered by Slate, our own chess engine.

About Turtle Leap LLC. Turtle Leap LLC builds thoughtful software that turns complex analysis into clear, useful understanding. Slate Chess is its chess coaching app, powered by Slate, its own chess engine, for players who want to understand why.

Engine: Slate, written from scratch in Swift
Free engine: The Slate engine is a free UCI engine for personal use and engine testing, separate from the app: slatechess.com/engine. About 3,220 on a CCRL-like scale (our own measurement, not an official rating list figure).
Lichess bot rating: About 2,470 in blitz (account slate-engine, 17 October 2026; live at lichess.org/@/slate-engine). This is a rating among Lichess BOT accounts and isn't comparable with human or FIDE ratings.
Privacy: The app collects no data and has no analytics or account; analysis runs on the device and games sync through the user's own iCloud

Usage guidelines

Preserve the artwork, proportions, colours and clear space (25% of the symbol width on every side).
Use the light-surface version on light backgrounds and the dark-surface version on dark ones; never recolour or invert.
Do not alter the line-screen angle or density, add effects, or place text over the logo.
Do not combine the logo with another mark or imply sponsorship or partnership.
Use the official Apple badges from Apple's marketing resources when linking to the App Store.
Name: use Slate Chess for the app and Slate for the engine. Apple, App Store and TestFlight are trademarks of Apple Inc.
